AmpLive Remixes Jamie Lidell & Covers Public Enemy For Zion I Mixtape

MP3: Jamie Lidell – Out of My System (AmpLive Remix Ft. Zumbi of Zion I)

Many music fans have spent the past year getting to know Bay Area producer AmpLive through his C&D-inducing Radiohead remix record <http://onesevensevensix.com/amplive/> , and the work he's done with tracks from MGMT, The Jealous Girlfriends, and Tokyo Police Club. Today, he's back to add another few names to that list – Jamie Lidell, and his own outfit, underground hip hop stalwarts Zion I. Earlier this year, Lidell commissioned a few remixes from Amp, and the first track of that collaboration is finally available below. The funky, glazed-over take on "Out Of My System" features Lidell's vintage soul howls and a verse from Zion I emcee Zumbi.

MP3: Zion I – "The Rebel”

In Zion I news, AmpLive and Zumbi are preparing for the January release of their new record, The Takeover, with an oldschool mixtape. That's right, a real mixTAPE. But for those who can't get their hands on the 80s-adoring physical goods, don't sweat it, cause the duo will be posting the audio online later this month. What to expect? In keeping with the takeover concept, Amp and Zumbi are tackling other peoples' songs, loading the A-side of the tape down with covers and re-envisioned renditions of hip hop classics and the B-side down with indie rock and electro goodies. The lead leak from the mixtape, appropriately titled The Search and The Seizure, is a Zion I send-up of Public Enemy classic "Rebel Without a Pause." Hear for yourself below, and keep a look out for more from the mixtape, Zion I and The Takeover soon.
