Apparently Morrissey's opening act Kristeenyoung has been kicked off his tour for saying on stage at the Hammerstein Ballroom show "Morrissey gives good head, I mean, er, cunnilingus..."
Here is the statement released by Kristeenyoung on her Myspace
"My band, KRISTEENYOUNG, have been asked to leave the Morrissey tour.
Although I have been advised not to respond or issue a statement, my feelings are that I must. We have been asked to leave because of something I said on stage at The Hammerstein Ballroom, in New York City, this past Tuesday night.
Unfortunately, the statement has been perceived as being profane (when, actually, one of the two words in question is a scientific term found in junior high, health class text books, and the other word, I feel most would agree, is lightweight slang) or defamatory. What I said was part of a thread of stage statements I made throughout our set. They were metaphorical and overstated to make an artistic point. The "offending" statement, in particular, was in no way a literal statement, and was very much in keeping with the tone of my writing in general. I reach for beauty and intelligence in my lyrics, but try to retain a bit of the everyday in them.
Maybe the statement was a bit TOO everyday. Maybe I misjudged… but I meant no harm. I love Morrissey with all of my heart, soul, body, spirit, to the core of my existence and always will. These will be the only words I will ever write or speak on the subject ever again. Please don't ask for an interview or e-mail me with questions. Thanks to those who understand and who are brave enough to say so.
- Kristeen — Friday, October 26, 2007"
It was a stupid move, unprofessional and I'm sure that it will be the last we will ever hear of Kristeenyoung

Album Review: Iron and Wine - "The Shepard's Dog
Grade A
This is easily my favorite Iron & Wine album to date. No question. Unlike Sam Beam’s previous effort, Our Endless Numbered Days, every single song is completely solid, and no less than four are absolutely stellar. (owlandbear)
Rating: 8.6
The Shepherd's Dog is Iron & Wine's most diverse and progressive album yet, a deft transition to a very different sound that explores new territory while preserving the best aspects of Beam's earlier recordings. It's the kind of record that just keeps pulling you back with its dreamlike flow and attention to detail: The first time I listened to it, I played it straight though again when it ended, and I can't think of a higher compliment than that. (Pitchfork)
The Shepherd’s Dog is a step forward for Iron and Wine in many ways. The only moments where it falters are where the tonal characteristics gesture toward the past. When it shines, however, The Shepherd’s Dog’s clever songwriting and creative instrumentation makes for the most complete record Beam has ever recorded. (DustedMagazine)
4 and 1/2 Stars
Sam Beam is one of the most vital new American folksingers recording today, and The Shepherd’s Dog is a brave shift away from the unembellished minimalism of his debut. Some may crucify Beam for ditching the nakedness of his earlier work, but his latest effort is just as vulnerable (and just as lovely), teeming with delicate metaphors, gut-churning guitars and moments of perfect clarity. Because as centuries of grand American songwriters can attest, there’s more than one way to sing a folksong. (PasteMagazine)
Recommended: Those who loved Iron and Wine for the lo-fi simplicity of their early work may be startled by the rich layers of sound on The Shepherd’s Dog. But nothing feels overproduced here. The album shows off a band successfully expanding its possibilities. (NewMusicNation)
Enter Shikari US Tour Dates
Enter Shikari have announced a short run of US dates promoting their upcoming debut album Take to the Skies. The band’s blend of hardcore, metal and trance has garnered them one of the most loyal followings the European rock community has seen in years. They are in the record books for the only band to ever sell out the London Astoria while still being unsigned. Their live shows have been heralded by the UK press with Kerrang! Magazine honoring them with their “Best Live Band” award. Their first US tour found them playing to packed houses like NYC’s Bowery Ballroom where over 300 kids formed a mosh pit and sang along to ever single word. This was also before they had a record contract in place!

Dropkick Murphys perform at Game 7 of the ALCS.
The Dropkick Murphys played at Fenway Park Sunday night, right before Game 7 of the American League Championship Series - It was the 6th time in which the band has played at Fenway, before a game and what's the Red Sox record in those six games you ask? 6-0! The luck of the Irish is clearly on the Red Sox side. The band sang the National Anthem and then launched into fan favorites "Tessie" (the song of their 2004 World Series run) and Departed Theme/Jonathan Papelbon entrance music "Shipping Off To Boston" on a stage setup in center field right before the start of the game.

Album Out Oct 30th
Album Reviews:: Coheed & Cambria - "No World For Tomorrow"
3 1/2 stars (out of 5)
On its fourth album, "No World for Tomorrow," Coheed delivers the same complex, heavy tunes fans have come to expect and more. (UDReview)
Torn between two lovers. The conflict between conceptual adherence and commercial acceptance hurts No World for Tomorrow in the same way that Star Wars: Return of the Jedi sullied that franchise. Perhaps the planned prequel will return C&C to its formative approach and sound in 2009. ( Dallasnews)
Most notably, the album's guitar-work is very possibly the best the band has put forth so far-its fast-paced chords passionately work their way into your subconscious to create that sense of epic grandeur that fans were hoping for. ( SuffolkVoice)
A.V. Club Rating: B-
Ultimately, Tomorrow isn't a shoddy version of what Coheed has always done, but at this point, it could have been far more inspired. ( AVClub)
4 Out Of 5 Stars
Those who haven't religiously purchased the previous Coheed and Cambria albums on their release dates can still find pleasure in this latest album for its strong blend of storytelling and powerful instrumentation. (Siude)
Every song is an enlightenment (MetroSpirit)
It’s not the best album this year, or even this week, but it will remain in my car stereo simply because it’s a solid guitar-heavy album that’s amazing to listen to with your radio cranked up and the windows down. (The Recorder)If you want to hear an album with some of the best riffs to come out this year, pick up this album. ( The Chanticleer)

University of Kansas VS. Coheed & Cambria
Coheed & Cambria caused quite the commotion at the University of Kansas this week. Following a number of dorm windows being shot out a set of cryptic symbols were found spray painted throughout the campus with the date “10/23/07” underneath it. Rumors began to spread on the University’s campus that another shooting was coming on Tuesday (10/23/07). The campus police were swamped with phone calls and questions about the impending violence. Fortunately, the graffiti symbols popping up all over campus were to promote Coheed & Cambria’s release of their latest album No World For Tomorrow. The police eventually ruled out anything else as pure coincidence.
Underwhelmed hits the road in support of EP
Underwhelmed
Brooklyn band hits the road in support of EP release
Brooklyn, NY is known for many things, but great Modern Rock is probably not one of them. Now the BK’s best kept secret, Underwhelmed, are looking to change that, breaking out with a 3 Month tour in support of their recently released EP, The War Between Myself and Me, available at shows and via mail-order and iTunes, with a full-length to follow in early 2008 on Corporate Punishment Records/Koch.
Since forming nearly a decade ago, the explosive NYC quintet have amassed a huge underground following with their brand of infectious blue collar Hard Rock, which has gained comparisons to everyone from Nickelback to Fuel to Pearl Jam to Springsteen, and incendiary live shows up and down the East Coast including legendary NYC haunts CBGB’s, Arlene’s Grocery, L’Amours, BB King’s, and more.
The EP, produced and co-written by Thom Hazaert (Chimaira, Switched, Erase The Grey), and engineered and mixed by Ben Schigel (Drowning Pool, Walls of Jericho, Chimaira), features 5 tracks from the bands forthcoming Corporate Punishment debut, due in stores early 2008.
Vocalist Chris Amplo said "We're very excited to get out on the road and play these new songs for people. We've been working on these new songs for so long, and just writing and recording, and the reaction we've already gotten is incredible. And the Midwest ! is really where a Ro ck band can still go out and just kick ass every night and win new fans. Unfortunately you can't really do that in NYC, especially a band like us. We've always been kinda the odd man out, not heavy enough, not weird enough, whatever. (A topic the band tackles in their song "Freak") Now we've found other great bands to play with, and a scene that has really embraced us and the music we're making, which is a great feeling."
You can catch Underwhelmed live on the following dates:

Songwriter Thao Nguyen To Release Kill Rock Stars Debut
WE BRAVE BE STINGS AND ALL OUT JANUARY 29, 2007
According to Thao Nguyen, she has two talents: her first (and in her opinion finest) is that she can watch TV for longer than most people could stand it: "As a kid, I'd watch, like, nine hours a day," says the 23-year-old Virginia-bred songwriter. Thao also admits to a knack for beat-boxing and humming at the same time, which she displays on "Bag of Hammers," the first single from her Kill Rock Stars debut, We Brave Bee Stings And All.
Of course when Thao says she has two talents in life she isn't thinking about her unique voice, nor of her natural ability with words and melodies. Thao's songs are richly musical, whether using just an acoustic guitar strummed with a toothbrush or employing keyboards, horns, and a full rhythm section. And while her music feels buoyant, even giddy at times, Thao endows her lyrics with a curious juxtaposition of gripping personal detail and saucy humor. "My songs reflect my personality as far as shirking the seriousness of things," says Thao. She also says Lucinda Williams was right when she said the best songs "sound happy but are so sad" - a powerful insight into Thao's own music.
Thao began writing songs with a simple intention: to accompany the television programs she loved so much. "I was really into Party of Five. I remember Sarah McLaughlin was playing in the background on one episode. From then on, I kinda always wanted to be on the soundtrack."
In college she recorded an EP and released a full-length debut, Like the Linen, on a local Virginia label. After playing shows all over the country she landed a spot on the Kill Rock Stars 2006 singer-songwriter compilation The Sound the Hare Heard. Soon after she began recording in Seattle and then Portland with Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Mudhoney, Jesse Sykes). Taking a break to tour in Europe with Laura Veirs, she spent most of 2007 recording the 11 diverse tracks that constitute We Brave Bee Stings And All, a subtly powerful album concerned with admissions of guilt, life revelations, and failed domesticity (with beat boxing!).
"Violet" is an example of the latter, a song that was born from watching her neighbors argue. Like so many of Thao's songs, the sweet, singsong melody and jaunty acoustic guitar belie the seriousness of the subject matter. "My songs that are incredibly vulnerable are the closest I get to a love song, but it's never a love song," she says. "It's more of a 'want song' -- like you want but you can't have."
Thao's sly, mischievous sense of humor is all over this record, lightening the gravity of her words in the tradition of the very best songwriters. Thao is young, but her words are wise and funny and sad already. Attention, music supervisors!

Fearless Records Re-Releasing the album that started it all for the Plain White T's
"I truly believe that some of the best songs I have ever written are on this album" Tom Higgenson, vocalist Plain White T's
Plain White T's fans new and old get ready for a release you must add to your collection. On November 6, 2007 Fearless Records will be re-releasing STOP, the Plain White T's original full-length album. The STOP reissue is fully remastered and includes three never-heard tracks from the band's previous studio sessions and new artwork.
Singer Tom Higgenson explains that, "STOP is more of a diary to me than a cd. This collection of songs is 100% auto-biographical to my life in 2001-2002. I was going through my first serious relationship, and STOP chronicles all the ups and downs that came along with that. We recorded it in our friend Wes' basement in Lombard, IL- the suburb of Chicago that Dave and I grew up in. The recording is very raw, but I like to think that gives it some character! And after all, in the end it's not about how good the recording is, it's all about the songs. I truly believe that some of the best songs I have ever written are on this album. So quit reading and enjoy our very first release on Fearless Records, and one of my personal favorites- STOP."
Check out the album that led the Chicago-based band from Tom's Higgenson's bedroom into the hearts and homes of fans nationwide. The Plain White T's have won a Teen Choice Award for "Choice Summer Song," won the "Breaking Woodie" (Best Emerging Artist) category at the 2006 mtvU Woodie Awards and were nominated for an MTV Video Music Award (for "Monster Single of the Year"). They have performed live on The Today Show, Jay Leno, Carson Daily, and Jimmy Kimmel in front of millions of viewers. The rise to a Platinum single and Gold Album didn't come over night but through hardwork and constant touring.

LEGENDARY NIRVANA "MTV UNPLUGGED" PERFORMANCE SET FOR FIRST EVER DVD RELEASE ON NOVEMBER 20
Nearly 14 years to the day of the filming of Nirvana's landmark "MTV Unplugged" performance, that raw, revealing and emotionally gripping acoustic concert previously seen only on television will be available for the first time on DVD. Unplugged In New York (Geffen/MTV Networks/UMe) will be released on November 20, 2007 and will feature the complete, unedited 66-minute concert including "Something In The Way" and "Oh Me" not aired during the original 44-minute broadcast. Unplugged In New York also includes five previously unreleased rehearsal performances and MTV News interviews with the band and audience members.
Filmed November 18, 1993 at Sony Music Studios, the show first aired on MTV on December 14, 1993; just four months before the untimely passing of Kurt Cobain. Unplugged In New York DVD is now presented in both Dolby Stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound and includes both the shorter original broadcast version, and Nirvana's entire unedited performance. When released on CD in November 1994, MTV Unplugged In New York debuted #1, won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1996 and was quickly certified five times platinum.
Favoring a selection of carefully chosen tracks over the band's hits, Cobain, bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Dave Grohl perform acoustic versions of Nirvana's "About A Girl," "Come As You Are," "Pennyroyal Tea," "Dumb," "Polly," "On A Plain," "Something In The Way" and "All Apologies." Six other songs are covers that mined Nirvana's musical diversity and depth, from David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World" and The Vaselines' version of "Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam" to the trad folk "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" associated with Leadbelly and the Meat Puppets' "Plateau," "Oh, Me" and "Lake Of Fire." Meat Puppets singer-guitarist Curt Kirkwood and bassist brother Cris Kirkwood perform with Nirvana on those tracks. Also seen and heard throughout are Nirvana's touring guitarist Pat Smear, an original Germs member and the original and now recurrent guitarist of The Foo Fighters.
The DVD adds the MTV News "Bare Witness" feature of interviews with the band, the MTV production staff, and fans in the audience, plus the rehearsal footage for "Come As You Are," "Polly," "Plateau," "Pennyroyal Tea" and "The Man Who Sold The World."

The Pendletons Play NYC & Release New Album
The Pendletons Play NYC, Release New Album, Frontman Saunders Records with Whigs
After a knock-out set at the indie outlaw CMJ showcase and a mind-blowing show with fellow Athens, GA band Casper and the Cookies, The Pendletons wrap up an NYC visit with a Wednesday night show at Arlene’s Grocery.
The band recently released its full-length debut Oh, Me! on indie outlaw. Athens audiences got their first introduction to The Pendletons when the band opened numerous shows for ATO Records’ The Whigs. Both acts have since established tremendous fanbases in and out of Athens.
Frontman Adam Saunders spent the summer in an LA studio with ATO Records’ The Whigs, cutting what will be that band’s next record. The album is expected this winter.
The Pendletons’ sound can easily be described as “the best of Athens meets the best of elsewhere”. Oh, Me! highlights many historical features of Athens’ music—ultra-catchy melodies, flashy parts, and a downhome nature that harkens back the old days of vinyl-based rock ‘n’ roll. But The Pendletons update the traditional Athens sound in a way that makes Peter Buck dance with a beer high in the air (seriously…. He did it at SXSW!) Check out the first single.
