New Music Downloads & Reviews of "Boo And Boo Too"

Check out BOO AND BOO TOO

Boo And Boo Too - Obviously
Boo And Boo Too - No Tempo
Boo And Boo Too - I'll be your whore

Reviews
“Boo And Boo Too are a Lawrence, Kansas sextet with fang to spare. Specializing in incredibly muscular, sleeves-rolled-up guitar rock that throws up great walls of fly paper melody, their new full-length No Tempo, is a stunner. ‘I Know Nothing’s Alright’ is that album’s towering opener and its squalls, like those in standout ‘No Tempo,’ are some of the most breathtaking I’ve heard in a while...” – rcrdlbl.com

“[No Tempo] continues on as a work of sweltering hard driving claustrophobia intermingled with shoegaze, NYC noise, and a dark myopia reminiscent of The Cure’s Pornography.” – parasitesandsycophants.com

“But what makes No Tempo such a damn listenable record is that Boo and Boo Too are able to draw from several areas of music’s past and blend all their influences into a sound that’s familiar before it’s fresh. It’s loud without being obnoxious, current without being too trendy, and vintage shoegaze without being patronizing. In its entirety, No Tempo is as straightforward an offering of bottled manicisim as one can get.” – baeblemusic.com

New Riverboat Gamblers (Free MP3)

The Riverboat Gamblers have a new mp3, "A Choppy, Yet Sincere Apology" off their new album Underneath The Owl available in March.

Download
Riverboat Gamblers - "A Choppy, Yet Sincere Apology"

Singled out by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke as one of the “Top 5 Bands at SXSW” in 2006 and later proclaimed #15 of the “25 Greatest Live Bands Right Now” by Spin Magazine, the Riverboat Gamblers have cultivated a fanatical and even somewhat celebrity following with their rowdy, energetic live shows.

Originally formed in 1997, the Gamblers built a local following and busted out of the Denton TX college scene in 2001 on the back of their self-released 7” single “Jenna Is A No Show”. With that the band began to take the show from the dives bars and house parties of UNT on to the rest of the country. Austin punk legend Tim Kerr produced their self-titled debut album that was released on the D.C. based Vile Beat Records. A couple years later, despite rabid major-label interest (in part derived from an explosive set at 2003’s South by Southwest festival), the Gamblers released their second album "Something To Crow About" through San Francisco’s Gearhead Records. In 2006 the band recorded and released their debut for Volcom Entertainment, “To The Confusion Of Our Enemies”, and hit the road with Against Me!, Eagles of Death Metal, Horrorpops, The Rollins Band, X, Joan Jett and co-headlined the inaugural Volcom Tour in the U.S. with label mates, Valient Thorr.

Riverboat Gamblers “Underneath The Owl” was recorded and produced by the “band ruining Famous Hollywood Producer” Mudrock, and will arrive in stores and online March 10, 2009.

Check out the new Boy Eats Drum Machine

Boy Eats Drum Machine is the solo work of native Portlander, Jon Ragel. He is a songwriter, producer, singer, turntablist, and also plays saxophone, guitar, synthesizer, organ, and several percussive nick nacks.

As a one-man musical act, Boy Eats Drum Machine merges the worlds of turntablism and live rock performance as Ragel spins breaks and surgically inserts sounds while juggling vocals, percussion, and saxophone.

His latest album, Booomboxxx, is an experimental pop record loaded with unique turntable textures, saxophone blasts, expertly chopped break beats, and gutsy vocals. Although the record effectively mashes several musical forms, it is Ragel’s most cohesive work to date, bringing to mind artists like DJ Shadow, Queen, Morphine, David Bowie, and The Postal Service.

LA's Synth/Noise-Pop Darlings ANAVAN Unveil New Single "The Perfect Sound"

Download "The Perfect Sound" HERE

Flagbearers for no particular scene or agenda, ANAVAN are as unique a Los Angeles institution as Ron Jeremy, The Smell, and taco trucks. Recently, they've shared the stage with No Means No, Crystal Castles and Monotonix, and have toured with HEALTH and Clip'd Beaks. Birthed from the pregnant stew of downtown's now legendary all-ages venue, The Smell, Anavan cracked their shell alongside groups like No Age, Abe Vigoda, Foot Village, and Mika Miko. Their sound, however, owes as little to their local peers as it does the aforementioned groups. The most obvious break from convention was (and still is) the conspicuous lack of guitar - an absence one forgets shortly after the first glorious note is struck. In a city full of 5-, 7-, hell, even 10-piece ensembles, the concept of "less is more" starts becoming something of an emergency. When less equals as much more as ANAVAN delivers, the wheat has already begun showing the chaff where to stick it. "Power trio" hardly does them justice.

Their new slick single "The Perfect Sound" is unashamedly sugary and accessable. Sonically a departure from their 'The Human League for kids who like Lightning Bolt' niche, "The Perfect Sound" clearly highlights the pop-songwriting talent that always existed in their noisier early work, without shedding the punk energy ANAVAN exudes.

Her Space Holiday Release XOXO

Her Space Holiday - “Sleepy Tigers”
Recent Reviews

“XOXO, Panda and the New Kid Revival could have been fostered in a college dorm room, since it snaps, claps, sways, thumps and marches to the beat of its own drummer boy… Props to Bianchi for moving forward by taking a step back. That's certainly not easy to do.” - ArtistDirect

“…get ready to smile, sing along, and maybe even dance to most of the tracks here” – PopMatters

Creates the kind of atmosphere that matches only an Impressionist painting in depth and texture. - Alternative Press

AmpLive Remixes Jamie Lidell & Covers Public Enemy For Zion I Mixtape

MP3: Jamie Lidell – Out of My System (AmpLive Remix Ft. Zumbi of Zion I)

Many music fans have spent the past year getting to know Bay Area producer AmpLive through his C&D-inducing Radiohead remix record <http://onesevensevensix.com/amplive/> , and the work he's done with tracks from MGMT, The Jealous Girlfriends, and Tokyo Police Club. Today, he's back to add another few names to that list – Jamie Lidell, and his own outfit, underground hip hop stalwarts Zion I. Earlier this year, Lidell commissioned a few remixes from Amp, and the first track of that collaboration is finally available below. The funky, glazed-over take on "Out Of My System" features Lidell's vintage soul howls and a verse from Zion I emcee Zumbi.

MP3: Zion I – "The Rebel”

In Zion I news, AmpLive and Zumbi are preparing for the January release of their new record, The Takeover, with an oldschool mixtape. That's right, a real mixTAPE. But for those who can't get their hands on the 80s-adoring physical goods, don't sweat it, cause the duo will be posting the audio online later this month. What to expect? In keeping with the takeover concept, Amp and Zumbi are tackling other peoples' songs, loading the A-side of the tape down with covers and re-envisioned renditions of hip hop classics and the B-side down with indie rock and electro goodies. The lead leak from the mixtape, appropriately titled The Search and The Seizure, is a Zion I send-up of Public Enemy classic "Rebel Without a Pause." Hear for yourself below, and keep a look out for more from the mixtape, Zion I and The Takeover soon.
